Next up, props from William Raspberry

We're on the Washington Post's nightlife agenda. We should also be on yours:

"And now for something completely different. You never know how music critics will do as DJs -- just because you can write about new music and are exposed to a lot of new tunes doesn't mean you know how to move a crowd. That's why it'll be interesting to check out tonight's Bluestate night on the Black Cat's backstage, which features four music-loving bloggers on the decks. (Get more info and links on the quartet's blog, www.bluestatedc.com, but expect to hear lots of danceable rock, a la Q and Not U, the Futureheads, Franz Ferdinand and Belle and Sebastian.) Everything starts at 9:30 and admission is free. (If you get bored, you can always head upstairs to Mousetrap, the monthly Britpop DJ night that Mark Zimin has run for more than five years.)"

Oh, don't worry Fritz and Rhome, we plan on making your butts shimmy and shake until they can neither shimmy nor shake no more.

And then there's John of Beaverhausen, who should come on up and say hello:

So what does 2005 hold in store? Can it possibly top last year's parade of spectaculars? You will have to tune in to find out, but we've got some good possibilities lined up already, including BlueStateDC this Saturday and GQB on inauguration Friday. Laissez les bons temps roulez!

Exactly. Now I must get back to dusting off my Talking Heads records in advance of the big night.
